The Super Bowl is over now.

I’m not into sports, but I LOVE Super Bowl snacks and of course, the halftime show and commercials.

This year, I’ll admit, I only stayed on the channel to see the halftime show and that’s it.

I didn’t really catch any of the commercials live.

But looking back on all of the food/drink ones thanks to the handy dandy website are my top 5 favorites, and then a few least favorite commercials:

Kat’s Top 5 Favorite Super Bowl Commercials 2016:

  1. Mountain Dew

This one surprised me, in a good way. I’m not the biggest fan of Mountain Dew (with the exception of Baja Blast) , but it grabbed my attention by which there was a surprising creature “PuppyMonkeyBaby” which reminded me of the dancing baby on Ally McBeal, that came on and danced. This is the commercial that has potential to go viral based on its contents. It’s all for its Kickstart drinks Mtn Dew has released. There’s even merchandise you can now buy of the #PuppyMonkeyBaby; click here.

2. Budweiser

Budweiser always seems to go for the gut in its Super Bowl commercials as of late; with puppies and horses in previous years. But this particular commercial grabbed me right away. First it stars Helen Mirren, and when she walks into any room she commands attention. Number two, her script about drunk drivers is powerful, yet comes across proper and light hearted, making it complex and entertaining to watch. AND, if you use the hashtag #GiveaDamn, the company will donate $1 towards safe ride programs. So lets #GiveaDamn then, hmm? 🙂

3. Bud Light

The drink commercials are the winners in my eyes this year. In this commercial, you’ll see comedians/actors Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen give their presidential-esque campaign speech for “The Bud Light Party,” paying homage to the beer and spreading some love to Paul Rudd too (who doesn’t love Paul Rudd?!).

4. Skittles

Okay, so with Skittles we all know we’re “tasting the rainbow,” but in this fun commercial, Steven Tyler walks in to find a portrait of him made with the rainbow colored treat. What happens later in the commercial you need to see:

5. Butterfinger

This one grabbed my attention. A bull rider jumps out of a plane and eats a Butterfinger. Why they had to do this, I don’t really know. It’s all about being “bolder than bold.” I loved this commercial, but at the same time, was wondering why they chose a bullrider.

Kat’s Least Favorite Food/Drink commercials, with one sentence explanations:

  1. Avocados from Mexico

Strange commercial paying homage to pop culture; it takes too long to get to the point.

2. Doritos

A baby literally tries to get out of the womb for a chip, gross.

3. Bai

Specifically, this cheerleader one promotes pessimism and is plain odd.

1. Pepsi

Brought back the nostalgia of the Britney Spears Super Bowl commercials.

2. Heinz

Those are some hot dogs! 🙂

So, there you have my list…
