Even though I can’t see you right now, raise your hand if you love a good ol’ glass of wine.
I certainly do, and you know what? So do MANY people. “Millennials” (technically I’m one but I’m not the biggest fan of the name) , to Baby Boomers.
And E. & J. Gallo Winery wants to show you just how much you, the consumer, likes vino.
The company, home to brands such as André champagne to Barefoot wines & bubbly, has just released its second annual Wine Trends Survey. Specifically, the Top 10 Trends of the American Wine Consumer. The research involved 1000 U.S wine drinking adults ages 21-64. And by “wine drinking adult”, they define as someone who drinks wine on more than one occasion per month, and at least once a week.
(Raise your hand if you’re a U.S. wine drinking adult)!
There was a lot of comparison between Millennials to Baby Boomers! With that said, here are some of my favorite highlights from the survey.
1. Millennials are almost twice as likely to buy Rosé compared to Baby Boomers.
With peak sales being in the summer months, June, July & August. Us Millennials LOVE the pink fruity wine I guess! There was no specification as to whether it was a sweet rosé or a dry, I prefer dry. Which do you prefer?
2. Millennials are also buying more sparkling wine than Baby Boomers.
So what are the Baby Boomers opting for? Merlot and Chardonnay. I love my Chardonnay, but if I, the “Millennial” had to pick a favorite , it would be Prosecco hands down (sparkling wine FTW!)!
3. 42 % interviewed acknowledged that wine is becoming less formal.
I found this interesting because to me, wine is wine and you have it with dinner or at parties or out at social events. But there must have been a time wine was considered for special occasions only, otherwise why would this have been said?!
